All Things BioChar with Ethan Guion

This immersive two-hour field class explores biochar through the lens of regenerative whole-systems design. Students will learn what biochar is, how it is produced, how carbon functions in living systems, and how properly inoculated biochar enhances soil biology, water retention, nutrient cycling, and climate resilience.

Participants will observe real soil conditions, examine carbon forms, compare particle sizes, practice inoculation methods, and design a site-specific application strategy. The class integrates ecological ethics, appropriate technology, community resilience, and scalability.

By the end, students will not only understand biochar  they will know how to apply it responsibly and effectively.
