About the event

Charlotte Swenson will guide us hands-on through safe food preservation, techniques, water bath and pressure canning for both fruits and vegetables. This session will cover sterilization, recipe modification, and botulism prevention. Participants will go home with a finished product as well as the skills and confidence to preserve their garden harvest safely.

Charlotte has been canning and preserving food for over 50 years. Her family has an urban Homestead in Elgin Texas, where they specialize in heirloom vegetables.  Their latest project is a locally grown ‘Ears to Ya” cornbread mix.
