About the event

Join us in welcoming Bill McCranie of Chickamaw Farms as he walks us through the buzz of Biodynamic Farming. Bill has grown from a Certified Organic farmer to Biodynamics to attain better shelf life, better color, richer flavor & higher nutritional levels in crops and beef. Biodynamic practices are not hard to do nor expensive to implement.

Biodynamic farming is a holistic, regenerative approach to agriculture that treats the entire farm as a self-sustaining, living organism.

Fermented herbal and mineral mixtures (like cow horn manure or silica) are used in small amounts to stimulate compost and soil life.

Planting, cultivating, and harvesting follow a lunar and astrological calendar based on the celestial cycles that influence plant growth.

Setting aside at least 10% of their total acreage for biodiversity, using cover crops, hedgerows, and companion planting.
