Find out how easy it is to infuse your favorite herbs into a delicious and nutritious oxymel elixir. An oxymel is a apple cider vinegar/ honey/ herbal infusion. It makes a fantastic base for healthy and delicious drinks this summer.
What is a Switchel & Shrub?
Switchels and Shrubs are both traditional, vinegar-based beverages with deep historical roots. While they share similar ingredients—namely vinegar and a sweetener—they differ in their primary flavor profiles and how they are served.
Shrubs are derived from drinking vinegars and is a concentrated, sweet-and-sour syrup made from made by macerating fruits or vegetables, sugar, and vinegar. Best used for mocktails, cocktails and cooking. Also referred to as a "drinking vinegar”. Shrubs gained popularity in Colonial America and 19th-century England as a way to preserve fresh summer fruit long before refrigeration existed.
