Meet our Founder…
Leesalyn has been digging in the dirt and communing with nature sprites for over 5 decades. She grew up on a small family farm in the piney woods of Central New York tending horses, goats and a backyard garden. In this part of the country it snows horizontally - imagine early morning barn chores with frozen eye lashes and nostrils while leaning into the wind - HA!
After University, she road tripped to sunny Austin, TX and has since 2001 called central Texas… Home. During this time she has offered her services as a health and wellness educator and studied with many senior teachers in yoga, permaculture, herbalism, and nutrition. While connecting with folks on this journey, she consistently heard a predominant concern for not only sustainable wellbeing of self, but also for family, community, and the planet. After the birth of her daughter, she launched Priya Herbals - a mother daughter medicine making duo offering affordable bioregional herbal care.
Accessibility to sources of wellness are cost prohibitive - quality food, health care, and medical insurance are all on the rise. While locked in our homes during the height of the Covid pandemic, it became increasingly clear that a shift needed to happen in not only how we receive care but also who is responsible for our health. In 2022, her small family traded the city rush of Austin for the piney woods of Bastrop Texas.
This modest three acre parcel is the birthplace and home of Rhizome Revival - a nonprofit educational farm offering free and affordable classes in permaculture, homesteading, and botanical medicine.
